Microsoft Teams Phone Announcement at Ignite 2022

 Microsoft Ignite was brisk this time spanning over two days with tons of new announcements across all the different services in Microsoft 365. Let’s look at the key announcement made for Teams Telephony

General Availability of Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile
Yes, you heard it correct Operator Connect Mobile have now been rebranded as Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile. It is generally available in Canada and Sweden with more partners on-boarding the services different countries around the world.

Detailed Call History
Providing the enhanced reporting and Call Path information for each individual calls coming into the Microsoft Teams platform.

Federated Group Calling
One of the most requested features in Microsoft Teams was federated Group Calling in Microsoft Teams. Now Teams users soon would be able to make group federated group calling with external domains.

Call Queue and Auto Attendant Reports
Similar like the regular analytics reports Call Queue and Auto Attendants reports would be available in the Teams Admin Centre early next year

.Common Area Phone (Rebranding)
Rebranding/renaming is now becoming a new norm in the Microsoft Teams telephony. Starting 1st December 2022 Common Area Phone would be branded as Teams Phone Shared Devices.

Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA)
Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) are getting enhanced features to ensure that they can support more features during the outages. SBA are one of the critical services which are required for various sectors. Enhancing the features of SBA would strengthen the feasibility/utilization of Microsoft Teams in the critical sectors like healthcare.

SIP Gateway Enhancement}
As per my previous blog SIP Gateway would be soon supporting the ATA/analog devices with Microsoft Teams. This reduced the requirements of Session Border Controllers (SBC) only for the analog services in Microsoft Teams Phone. This enhancement would build a strong use case for the Microsoft Teams Implementation in all the sectors. The list of supported devices is as below:
AudioCodes (MP-112 FXS, MP-114 FXS, MP-114 FXS_FXO, MP-118 FXS, MP-118 FXS_FXO, MP-124 FXS), Cisco (ATA 191, ATA 192). Poly (OBI 300, OBI 302)

Cisco IP Phone and Cisco Headset Support
With the long list of devices OEM Microsoft now adds Cisco IP Phone and Cisco headsets to the supported list of devices natively supported for Microsoft Teams.
