Compliance Recording Availability in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft will be soon rolling out a new service plan, Compliance Recordings, which will be available as part of your Microsoft 365 E3, E5, A3, and A5; Office 365 E3, E5, and A5; or Business Premium license.

Key points & Roll Out Timing

  • Timing: early March 2021
  • Roll-out: Tenant Level
  • Control type: Admin Control
  • Action: Review and Assess

How this will affect Microsoft Team Organizations

Microsoft is changing which license holders can benefit from compliance recording capabilities for Microsoft Teams. The user conducting the recording must be using a Teams client (desktop, mobile, or web); however other individuals can connect to the call via any device.

What Organization need to do to Prepare

Microsoft recommend that you familiarize yourself with the details of this capability and determine the appropriate policy settings for your organization. Then create and assign compliance recording policies that determine which users are to be recorded and which recorder will be used for each user.

Organization might want to notify end users about this new capability and update your training and documentation as appropriate.

You may wish to make note of the new service plan, Compliance Recordings, for your records.
