What’s New in Microsoft Teams May 2020 Build Edition
In the May Edition of Microsoft Teams which is also called
as the Build Edition of Microsoft Teams since most of the updates where
announced in the Microsoft Build Event. Most of the Feature which was delayed
has been rolled out in the May Edition. Highlighting three most requested and
public requested feature which are as below: -
Change in the Video Layout

We are increasing the number of
participants shown on the stage to 9 and making it video optimized. For more
than 9 participants, we will prioritize those with video on and show them on
the stage. Participants with audio will be shown below the meeting stage. To provide
a high audio and video quality experience, the layout logic will consider user
bandwidth and alter the number of videos shown to provide the best meeting
experience.
What do I need to do to prepare?
The Feature is a part of the Tenant Roll
Out and will be available automatically to all the users in the Tenant once rolled
out.
Download a participant
report in a Teams meeting,
Microsoft

Meeting organizers,
especially teachers, often need to know who joined their Teams meetings. Soon
you will be able to download a participant report, found in the roster view
that includes join and leave times for participants. Available in the roster
view, meeting organizers can download the report that includes those users who
joined while the organizer was present. This feature is only available with the
meeting while the meeting is active. Available on desktop (Windows and Mac) and
the web.
What do I need to do to prepare?
The default for the
feature will be DISABLED. The Admin will need to go turn this on through a
PowerShell cmdlet to be able to utilize this feature:

Raise a Virtual Hand in
Teams Meetings
The new raise hand feature in Teams allows meeting attendees
to identify that they wish to speak by toggling the hand icon in the meeting
control bar, making it easier to actively participate in meetings. Raise
hand will be available initially for PC, Mac, and web-based clients. Support
for mobile applications will follow.
- We will be gradually rolling this out in
mid-April.
- Expect feature support in government
environments in late-May.
When a meeting participant has raised
their hand, an icon will appear next to their name in the roster view as well
as their profile picture or video on the main meeting stage. Participants can
lower their hand, and any presenter can lower individual hands in the meeting.

Multi-Window Chat for
Microsoft Teams
Multi-Window Chat is a new Microsoft Teams feature which
enables users to multitask more efficiently by popping out their chat
conversations into separate windows.
Once available users
will be able to engage in chat sessions in windows outside the Teams client.
There are several ways
users can pop-out their conversations:
- Double-click on a conversation in the chat list.
- Click “Pop out chat” from the context menu for a
chat in the chat list.
- Click the ‘pop out’ button in the top-right
corner of the chat header.
- Use the slash command /pop name.
- Double-click on an avatar picture
- Hover over a chat in the chat list and click on
the 'pop out' button
