Microsoft Business Voice Calling Plans / Microsoft Business Voice Direct Routing


Most of the Office 365 Administrators find it difficult to understand the Microsoft Calling Plans how to best utilize it, whom to assign the licenses and how to configure it for the users. Let us understand the different Microsoft Licenses and their offering specifically for Small Business Customers with less than 300 users in their Tenant.

Business Voice Calling Plans are available in around 70 countries wherein Microsoft is offering this service across globe. Business Voice Calling Plans are available in almost Three Countries currently namely United States, United Kingdom and Canada. This will be soon rolled out in other countries wherein Microsoft is providing the calling plans. But there are no timelines for the same.

Below are the Licenses SKU which are eligible for Microsoft Business Voice Feature Capabilities
·        Office 365 Business Basic (previously called Office 365 Business Essentials)
·        Office 365 Business Standard (previously called Office 365 Business Premium)
·        Microsoft 365 Business Premium (previously called Microsoft 365 Business)
·        Office 365 E1
·        Office 365 E3
·        Office 365 F1
·        Microsoft 365 A1
·        Microsoft 365 A3
·        Microsoft 365 E3

For the Customers in United States, United Kingdom and Canada here is the details on how your configuration will look.Basis of the Licenses SKU above will get the respective services + Business Voice Services would be additional to the same. What would be the Features you will get from Business Voice Calling Plans

Business Voice Calling Plans (Microsoft Offering)
·        Microsoft Teams Licenses
·        Phone System License
·        Domestic Calling Plan
·        International Calling Plan (Additional)
·        PSTN Conferencing Licenses (This License would be useful for those users who tends to schedule external and internal meeting with their colleagues and other end customers)

Domestic Calling Plan: - With this plan Microsoft Offers calling Domestic within the country i.e. A United States user with the Domestic Calling Plan will be able to makes to any of the Domestic user within United States either Landline or Mobile.

Note: - The Domestic Calling Plan comes with the limit of 3000 Minutes per month in the US and Canada 1200 minutes in United Kingdom. In case you need any additional minutes there is a flexibility to add more minutes with the top up recharges.

International Calling Plan (Additional): - To avail this feature you need to ensure that you add on Microsoft Communication Credit Licenses for enabling the capability to make international call from your account. This would be charged as Pay Per Minute model based on the numbers of calls made by the users of your organization.

Note: - For enabling communications credit we need to enable and assign the communications credit license to the user account and recharge the valet to be capable to making International Calls. In case you need any additional local minutes there is a flexibility to add more minutes with the top up recharges with this communications credit.

·        Canada (22.50CAD)
·        United Kingdom (12Euros)

Business Voice Direct Routing (CSP Offering)
·        Microsoft Teams Licenses
·        Phone System License
·        PSTN Conferencing Licenses (This License would be useful for those users who tends to schedule external and internal meeting with their colleagues and other end customers)
·        Domestic and International Calling

Domestic & International Calling
In case of Domestic and International Calling for Business Voice Direct Routing this would be coming in from the CSP Partners. This could be pay per minute model or different bundle packages from the respective Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Offering

Charges for the Business Voice Direct Routing differs from Country to Country. You might need to reach out.
